8 Life-Changing Morning Rituals
There are loads of benefits when getting an early start to your day. You are able to have a few peaceful moments to yourself without a need to frantically rush and to cross off a few things off your to-do list. My favorite thing about waking up early, is the opportunity to enjoy coffee with my dog on the back porch, before the sounds of the day begin. I love to spend my mornings meditating, gathering my thoughts and planning out my day.
Set Goals for the Day.
Reaching for my phone after I immediately wake up, was a bad habit that took a while to break. Instead, after opening your eyes, take a few deep breaths—breath in, count to four, hold for four seconds, then exhale for eight—repeat your positive affirmation of the day, such as my mind will stay positive, as my day productive. Tell yourself you will meet your water intake goal, or you will get the raise. By setting a powerful, positive mindset, you are setting yourself up for exactly that. A negative mind will never give you a positive life.
Taking five minutes to gently stretch your muscles can energize you body, motivate your mind to give you that natural kickstart to get ready for the day. Breathe as you go in to each stretch, hold for 3-4 seconds and release.
I’m definitely a “morning shower” person, meaning that I cannot start my day without a hot shower and my favorite shower gel. Take a few moments to let your muscles loosen under the hot water. I love connecting my phone to my portable speaker, via bluetooth to listening to my Morning Hits playlist, my current audiobook or podcast as I shower.
Keep a Gratitude Journal
his is another thing that I mention quite a lot. It’s also life-changing. Most of the time, we talk, think and focus on things we don’t want. We’re scared of failing, getting sick, being alone. How often do you celebrate what you have? How often do you take time to appreciate how far you’ve come? Every single day of your life can be amazing, and nothing out of the ordinary has to occur for that to happen.
When you stop and think about all the things you have in your life; from your health, your relationships, down to running water and electricity- you come to realize that you have quite a lot to be thankful for. Remember, that the only way to ensure that you get more of what you love, is to be thankful for what you already have. Start a gratitude journal and every day, list ten things that you’re thankful for. You can do it before you leave the house or on the train/bus while going to work. Do this every day for 30 days and watch your life change.
